Gulf TravellerGulf Traveller was founded on 1 June 2003 as part of the Gulf Air three year restructuring and turnaround program instigated by the CEO at that time James Hogan. The model behind Gulf Air was to economise on routes with low demand for first or business class passengers.

The carrier plan was to provide economy class flights only, and provide an integrated services equivalent to those offered economical class flights in other carriers.

gulf traveller intended to  run it's flights initially to Nepal and Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Zanzibar. It also included many cities of the Gulf cooperation countries to its plan. The plans also has an expansion intention  of the carrier network to include secondary destinations in Europe.

Gulf Traveller was the all-economy full service subsidiary airline of Gulf Air. Its main base was initially Abu Dhabi International Airport and hubs was Bahrain International Airport, Seeb International Airport. It was briefly relocated between Bahrain and Muscat airports after Abu Dhabi pulled out of the Gulf Air consortium in 2005, and in May 2007 Oman also pulled out of the group leaving Bahrain as sole owner of Gulf Air. Subsequently Gulf Traveller permanently ceased operations due to these change.
