Air Libya is privately owned airline based in Libya. It was founded in 1996 under the name of "Tibesti Aviation' initially covering he general aviation sector. In the year of 2000 with a fleet expasion to cover passenger operations, the Company was named "Tibesti Air Libya".  Air Libya established under Libyan investment Law no. 5 ( partnership between Mr. Mohamed M Abusafi ( Libyan National ) and Attibco FZC a UAE Sharajh base company .

Air Libya with its headquarters in Benghazi  is provider of fixed wing air support for oil companies  in Africa and the Middle East. Throughout, Staff are approx 150.

In addition to the main base of operation at Benina International Airport (Bengazi),  main hubs are: Tripoli Intl Airport, Ubari Airport, Mitiga Intl Airport, Kufrah Intl Airport and Tobruk

Buraq Air, incorporated on October 22, 2000, and commenced operations on 15 November 2001 based in Tripoli. Buraq Air operates scheduled domestic and international services. It also operates passenger and cargo charter services in support of the oil industry based on a joint venture with CHC. The hub of Buraq Air is Tripoli International Airport. The airline is the first to be privately owned in Libya. It began operations on November 15, 2001.It was reported in 1 July 2010 the UK aviation support company A J Walter supports Air Buraq's  Boeing 737-400 aircraft on a three-year agreement. It has been reported that Mrs. Safia Farkash, Muammar Qaddafi's wife is a majority share holder of the Buraq Air.

Libyan Arab Air Cargo (Libac) was founded in 1979, and is an all-cargo airline with its main base Tripoli International Airport, and in effect the cargo division of Libyan Airways. Some of the Il-76s & C-130/L-100 are owned by the Libyan Air Force while are operated by Libyan Arab Air Cargo in civilian markings.

Petro Air was incorporated in 2008 subject to a resolution by the General People’s Committee merging four National Oil Corporation (NOC) aviation departments (Sirte, Waha, Zuetina and Veba) into one entity. Petro Air commenced operations on the 1st June 2008, its objective is to provide aviation services and support  for all the sectors of the oil industry  in Libya, drawing on individual merged company aviation departments previous track record, noting since its operations it captured 80% market share. Staff members: approx 300.
